Learning From Women Who Made A Difference In The World

By BLESSING EGUDA

Back in the days, girl child education was a privilege that was given only to the rich few. Parents preferred their male children to be educated and left the females to lend to the house chores and nothing else. For a female to go to school, it meant her parents valued education and did not believe that she was useful only in the kitchen. Nigerian women were greatly limited in terms of formal education. .

Cultural Influences

By O.C. Madu

Our varying cultures exent a powerful long lasting influence on our behaviours, ideas, attitudes and traditions. Riding along with a unified culture is like riding a like with the wind. As the wind carries us along, we hardly notice it's there, when we try riding against it we feel its force, as when moving toor visiting another, part of the world, face to face with a different culture, people become aware of the cultural winds.

Don’t Play Politics With Olaitan’s Death- Ugolor’s family

By OSAZUWA AKONEDO

Family of the Human Right Activist, Rev. David Ugolor who has been in detention over the alleged killing of the Principal Private Secretary to the Edo State Governor, late Olaitan Oyerinde has called on the Inspector General of Police and other relevant authorities to release their son immediately. They disclosed that some persons are playing politics with the death of the Private Secretary.

Mr. Solomon Ugolor who led members of the family while briefing newsmen at the NUJ Press Centre in Benin yesterday said that the suspects paraded by the State Security Service (SSS), on Wednesday in Abuja who claimed responsibility for the death of the Principal Private Secretary are different from the suspects in police custody that allegedly accused their son. Mr. Earnest Edosovba a member of Ugolor family said the family is shocked the way some political parties are trying to suffer the human rights activist over a crime he is innocent of; and wondered why two different groups will claim responsibilities for the death of the same Olaitan.

“We can’t fathom the idea that the SSS had paraded a group that confessed that they killed the person (Olaitan ) and another group is claiming that they also killed the same person;” the family said.

According to him, “we have seen him and it is a political issue. Our son should not be killed for political matter. He should be immediately released to us.”

It would be recalled that the State Security Service on Monday in Abuja paraded six suspects: Mohammed Abdulhi, Chikezie Edeh, Raymond Origbo, Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abubakar and Hassan Bashiru who reportedly claimed responsibility for the death of the Principal Private Secretary and denied ever knowing Rev. David Ugolor.
