THE speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe yesterday commissioned four water- borehole projects under his 2012 constituency projects as part of his contribution towards the development of his constituency, Oredo West, in the state.
Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe maintained that the provision of water- borehole to four of the six wards in Oredo West constituency, vis-à-vis, wards 6,9,10 and 11 was a clear demonstration of his resolve to complement the effort of the state government by executing projects under the scope of constituency projects.
He further revealed that the choice of projects which are evenly distributed in all the wards was informed by the simple evaluation of the immediate needs of the people of his constituency usually within purview of limited financial resources earmarked for constituency projects.
The speaker who was accompanied by Hon. Jude Ise- Idehen disclosed that the provision of borehole water to the people of his constituency would amelorate the problem of acute water shortage in the benefiting communities, stressing that effort must be made by the community heads to ensure that the water bore-hole pumping machines which were each equipped with four power generating set are adequately protected from vandals and maintained at all times. 6,9,10 and 11 in their views expressed their full appreciation to the Speaker for executing and commissioning various constituency projects ranging from construction and renovation of schools, provision of education materials aids and provision of bore hole water in his constituency.
According to Mr. Benard Ogbeide, ACN chairman ward 9, his ward has benefited severally from the constituency projects of Rt. Hon Uyi Igbe. The ACN chairman ward 10 Prince Richard Arase maintained that the ward was being provided with the fifth borehole, noting in the past that these were not noticeable in the constituency.
The ACN ward chairmen of ward 11 and ward 7. Mr. Godwin Osazuwa and Mr. Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe expressed delight over the provision of the borehole water projects describing it as democracy in action.
