ABUJA - Vice President Namadi Sambo yesterday in Abuja said the Federal Government will partner with any individual, groups or government to further the cause of its transformation agenda.
Sambo was speaking when the renowned professor of Competitive Advantage from Harvard University and Patron of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Prof. Michael Porter, paid him a courtesy visit at the State House, Abuja.
He said it was the first time government was receiving such an important visitor in the new administration that was eager to transform the nation’s economy.
“Your visit is highly appreciated and I will like to say that we must count ourselves lucky to have such renowned and important person showing interest in supporting Nigeria.
“We are very serious in seeing that the economy of Nigeria is improved and as you know we already have a document which we call the Vision 20: 2020.
“In this direction, we believe within the shortest possible time by the year 2020 we want to be counted among the 20 most developed countries.’’
Sambo maintained that as Chairman of the National Economic Council, he would look at the possibility of drawing up a line of action that would enable him deploy his expertise in supporting Nigeria.
This, he said, he would do in consultation with the Council.
He thanked the founder of Elumelu Foundation, Mr. Tony Elumelu and the Foundation for the visit.
Speaking earlier, Prof. Michael Porter said he was in Nigeria to share thoughts on how the country could be competitive in the global economy.
