EVBOGHAE – The Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor on Politics and Strategy, Hon. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolor has been appointed as the Chief Executive of Ugbeka Contact Committee for Economic Development and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Hon. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolor’s appointment and that of eight other members of the committee was contained in a statement endorsed by the Enogie of Evbohighae, Chief John Uhunarobona Erhabor a copy of which was made available to THE NIGERIAN OBSREVER in Benin City yesterday.
The Enogie explained that the committee was specifically set up by him to look into the land and the people of Ugbeka clan, its natural resources and chieftaincy matters.
The terms of reference for the committee include to explore the land’s natural resources especially solid minerals, oil and gas and to examine, and protect the interest of Ugbeka clan in the areas of ecology, environment and economy.
The committee is also expected to invite viable industrialists in oil and gas field and other categories of individuals to partner with the police in the development of the clan, within 33km radius of oil wells.
It is also to ascertain, or identify and protect the people’s interest and the chieftaincy affairs of Ugbeka clan and the oil bearing communities of the clan.
The committee is to liaise between the Enogie, the industrial companies and the federal government and secure royalties right of the clan, and also make final recommendations on all contracts and salary jobs or employment to be created.
The committee is also expected to raise funds, mobilise and monitor revenue yielding avenues to the palace and the community, and to contact the relevant Oba Palace committee for effective support.
Members of the committee are Col. David Nehikahre rtd, (Chairman), Hon. Aiyamekhue Edokpolor (Chief Executive), Prince Erhabor (Organising Secretary, Prince Efosa Izevbigie.
Executive Secretary), Mr. Edward Osawaru (Treasurer), Barr. Alex Osunde (Financial Adviser/Lagos Liaison), Barr. Akugbe Osayande (Abuja Liaison), Barr. Henry Gaja (Legal Adviser) and representative of Ugbeka youth chairman (member).
Hon. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolor is a prolific writer and public analysts. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Political Science Education.
He is the President of Benin National Congress (a Pan Benin Socio-Cultural organization) famously committed to the ideals of federalism, promotion of Benin cultural values and the recovery of all looted Benin artefacts.
He had been bestowed with several awards including the Midwest Achievers Award (2006), Community Leadership Award of Edo Leaders Assembly, USA (2009). He is a son of the famous Benin Clergy and foremost indigenous entrepreneur, Archbishop John Enoyogiere Edokpolor, JP.
