BENIN CITY – Christians have been advised to imbibe the spirit of giving and share love to the less privilege members of the society.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Okotie of the St. Paul Catholic Church, Benin City gave the advise during the 2014 Christmas/End-of-year Agape Get-Together ceremony organised by Project Charilove, a Non Governmental Organisation in Benin City at the weekend.
The Catholic Priest who underscored the need to support charitable initiative that would help improve the lives of the vulnerable persons, said that everyone is special in the sight of Christ.
Said he, “we are here to make them (the physically impaired children) know that they are also special.
He said that the Christmas celebration was significant as it marks the celebration of God’s intervention on peoples lives.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Richard Iyasele expressed gratitude to God Almighty for sparing the lives of the less privileged at the Project Charilove Centre to witness the successful end of the year.
He appealed to government, co-operate organisations and well meaning citizens for support for the needy, with a view to putting smiles on their faces.
Earlier, the Co-ordinator-General, Project Charilove, Mr. Chris Omuse, pointed out that one of the greatest sacrifices, appreciation and thanksgiving one could make is best expressed through outreach to the poor and the less privileged.
He said that unless one extends his hands of fellowship to the less privileged in the society, he or she has not appreciation God.
He therefore charged affluent citizens to imbibe the spirit of giving to the needy if their history must be written in the sands of time.
