BENIN – Cult clash again erupted yesterday at Ebo Community in Oredo Local Government area of Edo State leaving more than 16 persons dead with one John Irabor declared missing.
Investigation by our reporter revealed that the incident which occurred between two dreaded rival cult groups left residents scampered to an unknown destination for cover.
Worried by the nefarious activities coupled with the heinous havoc wrecked on the people of the area, t was learnt that one John Irabor, a peace builder in the community had pledge several complaints before the police in view of ensuring that peace and unity restored to the land.
A source who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity alleged that the said John Irabor was disclosing information about their whereabouts to security agents, which lead to the arrest of some of the cultists, hence they vowed to spread their dragnets across the country in search for him (Irabor) whom the source said has since disappeared to an unknown destination before they (the suspected hoodlums) allegedly murdered his uncle and set many houses ablaze.
As the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Irabor was still unknown. However, the source told our reporter that the dare devil cultists were still threatening to slaughter him (Irabor) alive if found within and offshore of the community.
The source who expressed worry over the poor security situation in the area appealed to security agents to beef up security if the security challenges facing the people must be adequately addressed.
