LAGOS – An Entrepreneur, Mrs. Precious Aremu, yesterday urged business owners to regularly attend refresher courses, to enable them to break even.
Aremu, Chief Executive Officer, Palinio Cookies, told newsmen in Lagos that regular courses by entrepreneurs were sacrosanct if a business must grow.
According to her, most of the contemporary global trends in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) could only be taught in such courses.
“Trends in the production of confectionery and appropriate packaging of FMCG are often learnt in a matter of weeks locally.
Regular refresher courses can reduce the zeal for foreign biscuits which has a large demand in the domestic market.
“So there is the need for entrepreneurs to empower themselves to remain in business,” she said.
Aremu said that refresher courses broaden the entrepreneur’s awareness of the various laws and guidelines that regulate the production of certain consumable items.
According to her, this can never be known outside attending a course.
She stressed that training usually exposes the entrepreneur to the various processes of government requirements and what categories of machinery to start a small business, to reduce costs.
Besides, Aremu said that the refresher course teaches the sort of skills an employer should search for from a potential employee in a business.
