KATSINA- Alhaji Aminu Masari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Katsina State, has said that he will abolish the State/Governments Joint Account law if elected as governor in 2015.
Masari disclosed this in Katsina while exchanging views with newsmen.
He said that he would solicit the support of the state House of Assembly to abolish the law that compelled the 34 local governments to operate a joint account with the state government.
‘’The joint account is conduit pipe that is being used to divert the local government funds into the state treasury.
‘’It is an account mechanical system that is used to drain the Federal Grants of local governments by the state governments,’’ he said.
The candidate said that his administration would release the federal allocation to all the 34 local governments in its entity so as to liberate the local governments from the apron of the state government.
He disclosed that the government after releasing the funds to the local governments; would monitor their activities so as to avoid financial recklessness and scandal.
‘’We are going to establish a mechanism that will monitor all the expenditures of the local governments and anybody caught diverting the funds will face the full wrath of the law,’’ he said.
‘’I will not allow my son or wife to become a contractor and if my wife visit local government on working tour, she will surely not collect gratification,’’ he said.
Masari called on the electorates to shine their eyes and vote APC so as to be liberated from the grieve of shylocks.
