ABEOKUTA – A member of Salvation International Church in Abeokuta, Ogun State,
Fatade Adeye, 30, has been arraigned in an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding two of his church members of N43, 000.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the accused committed the offence in October at the Salvation International Church, Asero, Abeokuta.
Ozimini said Adeye defrauded one Amaka Nwaneri and Tolulope Akintola as well as other Church members under the pretence of helping them gain admission into the University of Ibadan.
He said that the accused posed as a Ph.D holder and a lecturer at the University of Ibadan who was on sabbatical at the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB).
The accused, who pleaded not guilty, is facing a three-count charge of fraud, impersonation and stealing.
The prosecutor said that the accused collected the money, but did not process the admission nor refunded the money.
“The offences contravenes Sections 108 (1), 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal laws of Ogun, 2006,” Ozimini
