ABEOKUTA – An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, sitting at Isabo has sentenced a 19-year-old man, Sulaiman Alao, to one year imprisonment for unlawful entry and theft.
The accused was facing a two-count charge of unlawful entry and theft.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the accused jumped a fence to gain entrance into a house illegally.
He said that the offence was committed on November 11 at about 3:30 p.m. at Olorumbo Community at Asero in Abeokuta.
According to the prosecutor, the accused jumped the fence and entered the house of one Yemi Ogunleye and stole a car radiator and alternator, valued at N30, 000.
“Alao was sighted by a neighbour when he jumped into the compound.
“The neighbour raised alarm and the accused was caught when he tried to escape with the loot,’’ the prosecutor stated.
Ozimini said that the offences contravened Sections 383 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded guilty as charged.
The Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Adekute, thereafter, sentenced Alao to six months imprisonment for each of the two counts.
He was, however, given an option of N40, 000 fine.
