ABUJA – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the new Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), Mr Osagie Okunbor.
The corporation said that the synergy would go a long way in repositioning the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Department, Mr Ohi Alegbe.
It reported NNPC Group Managing Director, Dr Joseph Dawha, as making the pledge when the management of SPDC, led by Okunbor, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Dawha said that NNPC management was ready to extend the harmonious working relationship it had with the outgoing Managing Director of SPDC, Mr Mutiu Sunmonu, to the newly appointed boss.
He assured that NNPC was ready to work with the new managing director, so that Nigeria would continue to exploit its abundant hydrocarbon resources through the joint venture arrangement between them.
The group managing director, who felicitated with Okunbor on his appointment, congratulated the outgoing officer on his retirement after 36 years of service.
He described Sunmonu as a core professional who brought his expertise to bear on the operations of the company.
Earlier, the outgoing managing director of Shell said the visit was to formally introduce the new helmsman of SPDC who had been understudying him for months before the announcement of his appointment.
Sunmonu expressed gratitude to the NNPC for all the support he enjoyed and appealed for similar collaboration with the new helmsman of the SPDC.
