Owerri – Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has called on Nigerians to pray for the oneness of Nigeria and prove those who predicted the division of the country in 2015 wrong.
Okorocha made the call in a New Year message to the people of Imo State and Nigerians through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo in Owerri on Thursday.
He said it was not in the agenda of God to divide a country he made adding that Nigeria will become stronger and more united in 2015 and beyond.
Okorocha said whatever bitter experience the country was experiencing was one of the indices of all developing nations of the world.
He urged the elites to help the country by avoiding actions and utterances that promote disunity and hatred instead of love.
The governor attributed the problem of the country to the self-centeredness of the elites and not the common people on the street, adding that Nigerians have no problem living together.
He appealed to INEC to use 2015 election to prove to the outside world that the countryís democracy had prospect.
He said the “prospect is that of becoming one of the advanced and exemplary democracies in the world.íí
Okorocha assured Imo people that the New Year would be more prosperous and more promising than 2014.
He prayed to God to grant them their heartís desires in 2015.
