JOS – The Plateau Police Command and the Special Task Force (STF) in charge of security in Plateau have confirmed the release of Sen. Joshua Dariye’s father by his kidnappers.
Pa Dariye Dafweng was kidnapped recently in Mushere village in Bokkos Local Government Area and a ransom of $10 million dollars was demanded by the kidnappers.
DSP Emmanuel Abu, Plateau Police Command spokesperson, told newsmen that Pa Dariye was finally released after intense pressure following intelligence gathering by police and other security agencies.
Abu said that the victim was found in Demquan village in Qan’Pan Local Government Area of the state.
“He was abandoned by the kidnappers and he found his way to the house of somebody he knew in the village,’’ he said.
Capt. Ikedechi Iweha, STF spokesperson, who also confirmed the release of Pa Dariye Dafweng, attributed his release to the efforts of the STF, the Police and the Department of Security Service (DSS).
Iweha also confirmed the arrest of some suspects.
