BENIN CITY – In line with the policy of HIV/AIDS programme development project which is anchored on prevention of new infections, the Edo State Agency for the control of AIDS Edo SACA has organised a one-day training workshop in Benin City.
The workshop was meant to discuss the adherence of IPS and civil society organisations to the use of national tools in reporting HIV/AIDS.
Declaring the workshop open, the Community Mobilizing Officer (CMO), Mrs. F.I. Oyakhilome said the quarterly Technical Working Group meeting has the mandate to thoroughly explore other options of attitude and behavioural change as a tool for fighting the scourge.
The CMO hinted that the antistigma low enacted by the state government is at zero level because of lack of awareness and the inability of stakeholders to take advantage of it.
She however identified the ability to give HIV/AIDS patient the faith on what to do as one of the major issues confronting the work place policy of the campaign against the disease.
According to her Edo SACA in conjunction with the Technical Working Group of the Agency would be paying on advocacy visit to Igbinedion University, Okada Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state within the next few weeks.
Participants at the workshop in their various contributions noted that the high level of poverty in the society is largely responsible for the dwindling performance of traditional birth attendants in doing certain things that would have enhanced their performance in the fight against the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in the state.
