THE National Orientation Agency Edo State directorate has embarked on a State wide Community Dialogue programme on voter education and non-violent election in Edo State.
Edo State Director of the Agency Mrs. Magdaline Umunnah, who led the sensitization team to Agho Street, in Egor local government area, informed the people of the area that only peaceful and orderly conduct can guarantee a free, fair and credible election today April 11, 2015.
In a short drama sketch, the NOA Mini-theatre troupe practically demonstrated how to vote and conduct orderly election by going through a mock process of accreditation through the use of card reader, the ballot papers and the ballot boxes.
In course of the Dialogue, a Deputy Director in the Agency Mr A.S. Odile educated the audience on what constitute electoral offences and punishments that such offences carry. In the interactive session that follows, participants asked various question which were clarified by the NOA Officials.
The elders in the community however commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for allowing elderly people to go through the voting process without stress by giving them preferential treatment on the queues.
In his own contribution, the NOA Assistant Director in charge of Egor Local government Mr. R.I.O Edosa advised residents to always make up their mind on who or what party to vote for before leaving their homes to avoid undue money influence at the polling units.
