BENIN CITY – As the Nigerian President Elect, Gen. Mohammadu prepares to take over the mantle of leadership come May 29, the incoming administration has been charged to look inward with a view to initiating empowerment programmes that would help address youth restiveness in the country.
The President of the Grassroots Youth Initiative, Mr. Osarobo Idahosa gave the charge while fielding question from newsmen in Benin City.
Idahosa who outlined some of the major challenges facing the people, especially the youth to include unemployment and security called on the governments at all level to take proactive measures towards addressing the situation.
He expressed belief that crime will cease to exist if the government focuses more on creating jobs for the teaming youths.
The GYI boss further noted that the level of poverty and unemployment has claimed the lives of millions of youth who attempted to travel over sea through the desert to seek greener pasture.
While noting that the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has left on indelible mark in the history of governance in the state, Idahosa however acknowledged with satisfaction the way and manner voters conducted themselves before, during and after the elections which he described as free, fair and credible.
He used the opportunity to call on elected public office holders to always listen to the cry of those who voted them into power.
