OGHARA – The Ovie of Oghara, His Royal Majesty, UK Ogharanamen Orefe III has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to set up an independent panel to investigate the extra-Judicial killing of Mr. Benson Ogedegbe, Chairman of Oghara Vigilante Group allegedly killed by soldiers of the Nigeria Army attached to the 19 Batalion, Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Addressing a World Press Conference in his Palace yesterday the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom also called on all concerned authorities in the Nigerians Army to fish out the killer soldiers and make them face justice.
“We, the people of Oghara Kingdom condemn in its entirety the dastardly act of soldiers of 19 Batalion Nigeria Army Stationed at Koko, Warri North Local Government who took it upon themselves to brutally murder Mr. Benson Ogedegbe, the chairman of the Oghara Vigilante Group in broad day light.
“It is quite saddening that those who ordinarily should protect the lives of innocent civilians are now the ones wasting same. This killing is a real life example of extra-judiciary killing and impunity in the country”, Ovie regretted.
He said whatever the motive of the killers, the people of Oghara would not rest until justice is done.
The Ovie called on the Federal Government to strengthen the local security system to deal with oil related crimes within the community.
While urging President Buhari to take decisive action in the fight against impunity of all sorts in order to engender the much needed change in the country, the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom called on the youths and good people of Oghara not to take the law into their hands, but to allow justice take its course.
