AMEDOKHIAN (UROMI): No fewer than 63 victims of rain storm disaster in Amediokhian and Imio Omuza communities in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State got respite from the Federal Government through the National Emergecy Management Agency, NEMA as relief materials worth millions of Naira were given out to them
The federal government gesture was courtesy of a motion by a former member of the Federal House of Representatives under Matters of Urgent Public Importance on March 12, 2015.
The southern zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr Benjamin Oghenua while speaking during the ceremony said that the agency’s attention was drawn to the disaster immediately it happen, but there were procedures that needed to be followed before the approval is given, hence the delay in delivering the materials.
Mr Oghenua sympathized with the victims and urged them to accept the little offer from the federal government in good faith, while encouraging them to make judicious use of them.
He later handed over the materials to a representative of Edo State SEMA for onward distribution to the victims.
Some of the victims who spoke with newsmen thanked the Agency and the federal government for coming to their aid.
Items donated included mattresses, roofing sheets, bags of nails, blankets, bags of rice, treated mosquito Nets, buckets and cartons of Noodles.
