BENIN CITY – The Commissioner of Police in Edo State Mr Haliru Gwandu has assured of adequate security in Edo State during and after President Muhammadu Buhari two-day official visit (today and tomorrow), to the state.

The Commissioner gave the assurance in Benin City, yesterday.

Our reporter investigation revealed that security has been beefed up in and around the state apparently to forestall any untoward situation.

Findings further revealed that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), Air Force, Navy, Army and other security agencies at the State House, Abuja have since deployed their advance team in Edo State.

The teams, it was further observed, had on arrival in the state embarked on special intelligence gathering, aerial and ground surveillance with special attention on locations the president is billed to commission Edo State government executed projects, during the visit.

Intelligent report at our reporter’s disposal indicated that plainclothes officers have tactically taken over major flashpoints and hotels identified as criminal joints in Benin City and its environs.

The police command has also intensified its stop-and-search and vehicular patrol in the state capital.
