BENIN CITY-An 18-tyre truck reportedly stolen in Benin City, last June, has been recovered in Ebonyi, the Ebonyi State capital.

Three persons apprehended in connection with the stolen but recovered lorry have been transferred to the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, State Command Headquarters, Benin City.

It was gathered that operatives of Ebonyi State Police Command through discreet investigation recovered the truck and arrested the three suspects.

They were said to have acted on situation report sent to police commands by Police in Edo where the report of a stolen truck was initially made by its owner, one Mr
Charles Eghaghe.

The Mack model truck with registration number LAGOS LSD-281 XT was reportedly stolen on Friday, June 24, 2016 from where it was parked in Benin City.

It was said to have been found working in Ebonyi few weeks ago after the hoodlums sprayed the truck with a different collour apparently to shield it from easy identification.

One of the investigators handling the case at the Edo police command headquarters disclosed that the case file, recovered truck and suspects have been transferred to them for further investigation.

The source added that the police intend to use the case as a deterrent to dubious truck drivers and criminal elements who are into stealing of empty and loaded truck in the state.

Owner of the recovered lorry Mr Charles Eghaghe said he expects the police to find out from the suspects all those behind the criminal act and bring them to justice.

The Spokesman, Edo Police Command DSP Moses Nkombe said he is yet to be briefed on the matter.
