WARRI – SPEAKER, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon (Chief) Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori (JP), on Thursday sued for the cooperation of Staff of the Assembly, assuring them of better days ahead.

At a meeting with management staff of the Assembly, the Speaker who came into office May 11,2017,said that the meeting became necessary in order for him to be more abreast with challenges confronting the Staff.

He implored the Management Staff to be alive to their responsibilities, saying everything will be done within available resources to meet their needs.

The Speaker said that he was impressed with the Management Staff so far and enjoined them to double up their efforts so as to make the Delta State House of Assembly one of the best in the country.

Rt Hon Oborevwori said that; “Am so happy today with this meeting. We will continue to meet like this. I want to sue for your cooperation. Let us work together. Delta State House of Assembly is very vibrant and we are doing well”.

Responding to the demands presented to him by the Management Staff, the Speaker appealed for their understanding, saying that;”Your demands have to do with money and we are all aware about the challenges in the Country. We have challenges of funds, once there is improvement in our finances, the needful will be done”.

The Speaker who was flanked by Principal Officers of the House of Assembly added that;”We are praying that better things should happen in this our regime. I want to appeal to you to bear with us, better days are coming. We will look into the issues you raised once we have the money to do so”.

Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Barrister (Mrs) Lyna Ocholor, presented the needs of the Management Staff to include; getting out outfit on time for industrial harmony, infrastructural decay, funding the Clinic, office equipment for departments, Creation of division/units, upward review of imprest of Staff that was slashed by the former administration.

Others include; Provision of official vehicles for management Staff, Provision of funding for minor repairs and consumables, equipping of the library with current books for the use of members and Staff for research, Provision of newspapers for departments, assistance in assessing the car and housing loans, Management retreat and Staff training and welfare package for Staff, marriages, retirement and others.

She implored the Speaker on behalf of the Management Staff to use his good offices to attend to the issues.

In a related development, the Speaker also had a similar meeting with members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), where their Chairman, Comrade Edozie Emmanuel, presented him with similar needs like those of the Management Staff.

The Speaker promised to look into them and solicited for their cooperation in the face of dwindling economy.
