He said the failure in the system could be attributed to all in the society who have one way or the other contributed to the decline in the education system, particularly basic education.
He credited the success of some leaders today to the quality, sound and effective basic education foundation they received. “The foundation of the success achieved today by some of us can be attributed to basic education. We have attained this height today because we were properly taught”.
He stressed that when the basic education system was contaminated, corrupt and compromised, an irreparable distortion and imbalance system is built such that all suffers and pay dearly for such actions.
“The future of our socio-economic growth and advancement depend on how well we prepare our children for the challenges of the 21st centuries. Our children need a solid educational foundation particularly basic education foundation to properly fit into the technological era we found ourselves. Our emphasis is on teachers training and professionalism.
“Teachers that are not Information Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and can not expand their horizon are what we have in our classes. These types of teachers produce pupils with weak foundation who find it difficult to cope with life challenges. We have to provide our children with good quality education ensuring that basic education is accessible and affordable to all in the state.
“Indolence, absenteeism, indiscipline, sabotage and other action that contribute to the decay in our education system will no longer be tolerated. Those who feel incapable with our reforms, you can asked for redeployment or retirement”.
