BENIN CITY – Edo State government has reiterated its commitment to strengthen institutions for community development education in the state.

The Commissioner for Youth and Special Duties, Hon. Mika Amanokha gave the assurance yesterday in Benin City when he led the management staff of the Ministry, in collaboration with the representative from Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs. Ifueko Alufohai on an inspection tour to Centre for Community Development Education, an affiliate of the University of Benin.

He stated that the inspection was for an on-the-spot assessment of the centre and to give the centre a face-lift.

The commissioner stressed that one of the major objectives of Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is to strength institutions.

He added that the State Government is committed to laying good foundation for the youths who would be leaders in future.

He instructed the Director of the centre to furnish the ministry with adequate details of the centre, as well as the number of students in the institution.

The Director of Centre for Community Development Education, Mr. Asemokhai Ekpe Joel thanked the team for coming to the centre to inspect the building and facilities.

He briefed the team of the activities and functions of the school and added that the school is affiliated to the University of Benin for certification.

Also, the Director for Community Development, Rev. Dr. Abebe Albert, said the centre was created for youth development, as well as leadership training.

He emphasized that the centre was built in 1967, adding that the school has produced so many graduates, while appealing to the state government to come to their aid in the renovation of the school buildings.

The team also inspected the Staff Training Centre at Okada Avenue in G.R.A. Benin City.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection tour by Mrs. Philomena Obode, the Ag. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Special Duties and Mr. Wilfred Edetan, Director of Youth Development in the Ministry.
