BENIN CITY- In its bid to boost the availability of agricultural produce and input at Oba Farms and Market, the Edo state chapter, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), has disclosed plans to partner the Oba Ewuare ll Foundation.
The Foundation which was recently inaugurated by HRM, Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, is made up of different components such as the Farm produce discount Market, Scholarship scheme, Foundry at Ogonerie, Feeding Programme and Benin Royal Academy for Performing Arts.
Speaking with The Nigerian Observer at the venue of the inauguration ceremony, Edo AFAN chairman, Chief Emmanuel Odigie, described the Benin monarch as a true God sent, noting that, Oba Ewuare ll had come to alleviate the suffering of his people through the Foundation.
According to the Edo AFAN chairman, “We (AFAN) appreciate His Royal Majesty for his initiative to assist the less privilege in his kingdom, by way of establishing the poverty alleviation scheme. We will be supporting this laudable project, by partnering the scheme for it to be a huge success”.
While praying God to guide His Royal Majesty, Chief Odigie who is also the chairman, Chief Executive Officer,(CEO) of Oghodua Farms Investment Limited, urged Edo people to support the Oba of Benin with their prayers, for peace and prosperity during his reign.
The revered Benin monarch and Life grand patron of Edo AFAN, said that, the establishment of the Farm produce discount market is to assist the less privileged to cushion the effect of high cost of living occasioned by present economic reality in the country.
