BENIN CITY – A bill to enact the Edo State Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Enforcement and Administration Law 2017 will soon be sent to the Edo House of Assembly (EDHA) for due consideration and passage.
Hon Paul Ohonbamu, the Commissioner for Communication disclosed this while breifing journalists of the outcome of the weekly Edo State Executive Council meeting presided over by the State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki at Government House in Benin yesterday .

Ohonbamu said the bill was presented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe and approved by the Edo State Executive Council to be sent to the EDHA for consideration and passage.
Speaking on the essence of the Bill, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, told journalists that the bill made for the establishment of the Edo Taskforce on human trafficking and other related matters and would compliment the existing Federal Government Law on Human Trafficking.

‘’Through this bill, the appropriate agencies in Edo will be empowered to prosecute offenders in conjunction with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons”, Omorogbe said.
Ohonbamu also disclosed that the executive council approved three programmes to mark the one year anniversary of the Obaseki-Led administration.

He listed the programmes as investment summit tagged Alaghodaro 2017 holding from Nov. 10 to 12, ground breaking of the Edo State Industrial Park at Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area to hold Nov 11 and interdenominational service in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria at Samuel Ogbemudia stadium on Nov. 12, 2017.
