BENIN CITY-A young businessman accused of attempted murder on Facebook has appealed to the police and other security agencies in Edo State to unravel the authenticity of the allegation describing it as a plot to blackmail him.
The industrialist, Mr Silva Ikenna Ukwulgbu made the appeal while narrating his ordeal to our crime correspondent at the corporate headquarters of Bendel Newspaper Company, Publishers of The Nigeria Observer titles, Benin City, yesterday.
He stated that his close relative, one Jerry Kanayo Akor had through Facebook sent a photo of himself laying on a sick bed with bandaged legs to his mother based in the United States of America claiming that he was shot by gunmen hired by her son Mr Silva Ikenna Ukwulgbu to assassinate him.
Mr Ikenna also narrated that the said relative Jerry Kanayo in his massage went further to request his mother to prevail on her son Ikenna to reveal the identities of the gunmen he sent to kill him.
He maintained that the said massage was never sent to him even when his accuser Jerry Kanayo has his contacts.
While noting the cordial relationship that hitherto existed between them Mr Silva Ikenna explained that he decided to steer clear from Jerry Kanayo when his began exhibiting questionable character.
He however called for a discreet investigation into the alleged shooting with a view to unmasking and nipping his motive in the bud.
Contacted on the telephone, Mr Jerry Kanayo Akor stated that “look! I do not want to say anything about that”. He ended the call abruptly.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, yesterday Mr Silva Ikenna had gone to incident the case at Evbotubu police station.
