WARRI – A suspected tricycle thief on Tuesday evening met his waterloo at the popular Okumagba Estate in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident which occurred at about 7pm , saw residents and passersby scampering for safety as sporadic gunshots from the dare devil robbers rented the air as they attempted to dispossess the operator of his tricycle.

NIGERIAN OBSERVER learnt that two members of the four -man criminal gang were also arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force”B” Division while one other escaped.

The alarm raised by the tricycle operator attracted other tricycle operators as well as passersby who gave the suspects a hot chase ; this led to the apprehension and subsequent setting ablaze of one of the suspected robbers before the arrival of the Police at the scene.

After further combing of the area, the Police also arrested the other two suspects who are cooling off their heels in detention.

The Divisional Police Officer”B” Division, SP Ebi Orubiri declined comments on the matter as he referred Our Correspondent to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka.

Contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police,CP Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the report .

According to CP Mustafa, “It is confirmed. They were caught trying to rob a Keke. One escaped, two were arrested and one was set ablazed.”.
