BENIN CITY – ALL is now set for the 2019 Edition of Edo State Football League finals between Asphalt FC of Ekpoma and BJ Foundation FC of Benin, beginning from 3pm today.

The Match which is billed to take place at the University of Benin Sports Complex is expected to be electrifying as both teams have perfected their strategies for the state League final.

Before the final match, the 3rd place match involving Joefen FC of Ekpoma and Bocas FC will kickoff by 1pm according to the organisers.

Addressing newsmem yesterday in Benin City, the Edo State Football Association Chairman, Hon. Henry Asemota called on Football enthusiasts from across the state to throng the main bowl of the Uniben Sports Complex and watch good football.

Hon. Asemota informed that this was the first time a team aside Benin City is taking part in the League final and this he attributed to the modalities put in place by the state FA.

While maintaining that there would be lots of side attractions awaiting football fans in today’s matches, the state FA, however, lamented lack of sponsorship cum subvention as some of the banes undermining the state FA, just as he said to have been funding the association from his personal pocket.

Hon. Asemota opined that though, there have been challenges in the FA but since assumption of office, “We decided to rebrand the FA and structured the place.

“I have been putting more hours on the job because we want put things in the right perspective”.

He disclosed that plans are underway to organising inter community football competition in the state which according to the FA, boss is scheduled to kickoff ending of November to December 31, assuring that talents discovered in the competition would be used in setting up the U-13, U-15 and U-17 football academies in the state.

Hon. Asemota, however, said the state FA is open to partnership towards moving the state forward in the area of football .

Some of the dignitaries expected in today’s matches include Edo State Governor, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, NFF President, Amaju Pinnick and some other executive members of the NFF.
