BENIN CITY – Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu weekend eulogised late Dr. Benjamin Aigbobasimi Oni-Okpaku for his entrepreneurial drive for setting up the now defunct Benoni Hospital after he stepped down as the foremost Chief Medical Director, Specialist Hospital Benin City. He passed on at 87.
Shaibu noted that the late formost medical practitioner pioneered the private sector drive that created jobs which the state is keen at keying into to help drive private sector development.
He also observed that the late octogenarian was a worthy golfer, and in line with the tenets of the game, as a game of life, he was around to pay respect to a fallen golfer, celebrate his life and times while also striving to emulate Oni-Okpaku’s private sector drive.
It is worthy of note that one of the deceased children is the current Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Dame Omua Alonge Oni-Okpaku.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor was on hand to wish well Ekiuwa Sarah Ogunbor and Osagie Itua Aghedo as they got joined traditionally as a couple.
Father of the groom, Amen Aghedo urged the new couple to shun unnecessary interference into their private lives. He advised them to learn from his example by striving to lead a simple life.
