BENIN CITY – As the 11th Edition of Pa Michael Imoudu memorial football tournament gets tougher and interesting,Owan west local government male team yesterday defeated stingers FC by 6-0, while Pepsi football Academy edged Holy Trinity FC by a lone goal in a separate encounter.

In the other games, Efe-urho City Football Academy Piped Famcy Academy of Abuja 1-0, while Titans FC defeated Holy Trinity 1-0.

The soccer tournament, sponsored by Owan West local government area for under 19 boys and Girls in the state with some visiting teams,is being organised by the federation of Youth soccer clubs (Feysoc) in memory of the first labour leader in Nigeria, Pa Michael Imoudu.

Speaking,host local government boss Hon Frank ilaboya during the opening ceremony of the tournament, said the event is a very unique one for him.

” This event is a very unique one for me in Particular, in the sense that this is the first time my administration will be sponsoring a tournament of this nature, which is in honour of the renowned number one labour leader in Nigeria, late Pa Michael Imoudu, adding that the aim and objective of the tournament is to foster unity, love and extend the spirit of oneness among Nigerians,” he stated

Meanwhile,Etsako East local government were expected to lock horns with Esan west local government today (Tuesday) in.

The tournament that will climax this weekend, will have the winner representing the country in a youth soccer tournament in Ghana next year.

Ilaboya also used the occasion to enjoin the people of Owan west local government to join him in congratulating his excellency the wake and see governor of Edo state Mr Godwin Obaseki on the third year anniversary of his administration in office
