WARRI – A 51-year-old step father whose Sunday Ojo is reported to be on tbe run after raping his 13-years-old step daughter (name withheld) in the White House area , in Jakpa Road ,Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Sunday Ojo had alledgelly beaten severely his step daughter and drowned her in a bucket of water on the 16th of October 2019

OBSERVER gathered that the girl child went into coma after been raped, with blood stains all over her body before her mother could come for her. The child was rushed to general hospital Warri.

The raped victim was resuscitated via Oxygen and referred to Lily Clinic also in Warri where she regained consciousness after 7 days in a coma.

Mother of the victim Mrs Edirin Mathew, said, ”l left the house that night because of the misunderstanding I had with my husband (Mr Sunday Ojo).

”l left the house to avoid the very violent man who had at one point stabbed me on my left elbow.

”I returned back the next day morning but i could not gain entrance to the house, until i called my brother and we broke into the house when i observed everywhere was silent.

”l met my daughter naked and lifeless with blood everywhere along with a wet bed and bucket of water that was used by my husband to drown my daughter.

She said, ”it is true, that the step father raped and drowned my daughter, I rushed my daughter to general hospital Warri but I was referred to Lily hospital.

”My little child of 4 years who was also in the house confirm the actions of her father that night, she narrated how the father suffocated her step sister after beating her up.

”Mr Sunday Ojo has been on the run since the incident occurred, l arrested the brother but the police released him because they said, “Mr B. can not be arrested for crime of Mr A”.

“I arrested him again because he was communicating with his brother on phone but he has been released. Mrs Edirin Mathew said”.

Although the minor is now relatively stable , she needs a whopping sum of 1.8million naira to clear her medical bills.

Mother of the victim while soliciting appealing yo well spirited members of the public , said, ” Please , I want the public to help me financially, take my child home, we are here because we couldn’t pay the balance money.”

Rights activist,Israel Joh who has been following the incident, has called on the DPO, Ekpan Division, SP Ibok to intensify his efforts at apprehending and through a court order, declare the culprit of this dastardly act, Sunday Ojo wanted.

When contacted for comment, the Delta State Commissioner of Police C.P Adeleke Adeyinka confirmed the report.

C.P Adeyinka said, ” the man has not been arrested, the girl he raped is not his daughter, but step daughter.”
