LAGOS – The Police in Lagos have evacuated the remains of a businessman, Ignatius Odunukwe on Tuesday from the canal in Ogunbo Forest, off Ajah Road, the location where suspected killers dumped the dismembered body of their victim after killing him.

The suspects Daniel Bob Ibeaji 42 years who professed to be a medical doctor (the ring leader), Arinze Uzor Igwe, 26 years, Solomon Cletus 30 years and Israel Obigaremu (an Uber driver) 35 years were marched to the scene by Assistant General of Police Zone 2 Police Headquarters Lagos AIG Ahmed Iliyasu to recover the corpse.

On arrival at the location, police and journalists were met with the stench oozing out from the carcasses of the deceased tucked into a Ghana Must Go bag, burnt and thrown close to the bank of the canal.

While speaking with journalists, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu said Bob canvassed the late Ignatius with a business idea to the tune of N900m following which they fixed appointment at Artican Beach Resort, Ajah Lagos.

Police authority said Bob had armed himself with a lethal injection and on sighting the businessman, Bob the mastermind instructed one of his boys to fetch him a bag he came with pretending as if he wanted to hand over the money to the victim.

Preliminary investigation revealed that as Ignatius was about to open the bag to ascertain what was inside, Bob grabbed him from behind while one of the boys hit the victim with an axe on the back of the head.

He further dragged the victim to the toilet, strangled him and, with the assistance of the boys, who held the Ignatius down.

Responding to some probing from journalists, Bob said he injected him twice with the previously procured lethal injection and ordered his accomplice to evacuate the corpse and throw it away.

The bubble burst following a petition to the AIG-in charge of Zone 2, upon which AIG Ahmed Iliyasu summoned the tactical commander of the Ikorodu office of Zonal Intervention Squad, ZIS of the Operation Puff Adder, SP Uba Adams.

Bearing in mind that the team was in pursuit of some abductors, investigation revealed that the victim had been killed since December 1, 2019.

It was found that the victim was finally strangled and injected with a poisonous and lethal substance in a hotel room in Ajah area of Lagos State.
