KANO – Members of the Edo Community in Kano State have commended the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, over his royal visit to the state, describing it as unique, memorable historic and auspicious.

The people noted that the visit of the Oba of Benin which they opined signified blessings to the state, according to them has elevated their ratings as indigenes of Edo State in Kano State.

Given the group’s welcome address, the Olotu of the association, Deacon Fred Akhigbe, commended the Oba for his developmental strides since ascension to the throne of his forebears, especially in the abolishment of Community Development Association (CDA), which hitherto was a nightmare for the people.

“We salute His Royal Majesty for all the positive changes and steps taken so far since your ascension to the throne.

“Judging from your antecedent and the track records of your predecessors, we have not doubt in our minds that His Royal Majesty will bring to bear your wealth of experience and sincere purpose for the desired physical and human development in Benin Kingdom and Edo State in general”, he said.

Deacon Akhigbe paid glowing tribute to Oba Erediauwa over the monarch’s outstanding and unparalleled leadership qualities during his reign, pointing out that the Oba’s reign brought peace, unity, harmony and blessings to the country.

While thanking the Kano State Government and the People for the recognition and support giving to members, the Olotu assured Oba Ewuare II that they will continue to be law abiding as well as exhibiting the spirit of good citizenship in line with the culture and traditions of the state.

He, however, appealed to the Oba to help in appealing to the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on their behalf to allocate plot of land to the association, which they intend to erect edifice and named ‘Edo House’.

Responding, Oba Ewuare II, while thanking the people for coming out in their large numbers to welcome him to Kano State tasked them to continue to be good ambassadors of Edo State, by being law abiding and good citizens of Kano State.

He assured the people of taking their request to the Govermor.
