DELTA STATE- A frontline Delta State-born philanthropist and Edo resident, Chief (Amb.) Scott Udu Godsent, has again demonstrated his love for humanity as he embarked on food and personal hygiene products distribution worth millions of Naira, including the distribution of over N4,000,000.00 to residents of Delta and Edo States.

The philanthropic gesture of Amb Scott, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Scores Empire Limited, Benin City is geared towards cushioning the economic effect of the ‘Stay-at-home’ order by the two Niger-Delta States, aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19.

The philanthropist, who on Thursday last, gave out 100 cartons of hand sanitizers produced with Vit. E,100 cartoons of facemask and Aloe Vera, 1000 bags of 10kg rice, 100 packs of power oil (groundnut oil) including N2000 each to every recipient and passerbys in Ugbighoko Quarters and it evirons, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, had penultimate day (Wednesday) distributed thousands of tubers of yams, Breads, cartons of power oil, bags of Garri, hand sanitizers including a N50,000 -N100, 000 donations to residents of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking to newsmen after the Delta and Edo States exercises in Benin City, the Edo State Capital, Chief Scott, said that as a responsible citizen of the country, he decided to lend his support to residents of the two states, especially as he opined that many families are facing difficulties over the lockdown pronounced in the country.

According to the young philanthropist, it became imperative to also help the vulnerable groups with financial, and other materials as well as moral support to make life more liveable for them.

He further said that apart from the support rendered to cushion the COVID-19 effects, he has in the past supported orphanage home, staged campaign to enlighten the people on a healthy lifestyle in order to avoid contracting coronavirus.

According to him “The fight against coronavirus is one that everyone must take part in for us to succeed and I hope that my actions will inspire other people of means to extend hand of fellowship to those around them because the government, I believe, cannot do everything alone.

” In a bid to escalate my ongoing efforts to curtail the spread of the virus here at home, I have produced more hand sanitizers and sensitization handbills for distribution to our people.

” Specifically, I have donated these sanitizers and other palliative products including cash donations as you rightly witnessed (apparently referring to this Reporter) across Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta and Ugbighoko Quarters and it environs in Egor Local Government Area of Edo States.

He thanked Delta and Edo States Governors, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for taking proactive steps by declaring a lockdown and stay-at-home order, towards ensuring the protection of the people.

Responding, recipients of Delta and Edo States in their separate reactions praised Amb Scott for his decision to conduct the distribution exercise independently, attesting to the speed and efficiency with which the items were were moved across the states and received by them without bottlenecks or crippling bureaucracies.

They, however, called on other public spirited individuals to urgently reach to their needs, adding that Scott’s humanitarian gesture is worthy of emulating.

Recall that Chief Scott outside Government functionaries in Edo and Delta States is the first Non-governmental entity to have given to the people in this perilous time of human existence.
