THE chairman of Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs Alhaji Abdulazeez Igbinidu has taskeded Muslims in Edo State to continue to be law abiding by obeying all precautionary rules and regulations issued by the government to prevent the spread of this virus.

Alhaji Igbinidu gave this charge in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen over the weekend in Benin City.

According to the Chairman of Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs, the Muslim umah and indeed the generality of Nigerian citizens should as a matter of urgency strictly observe government’s rule of not more than 20 persons in any gathering.

Said he, “Also, the precautionary measures on the use of face mask, gloves, hand sanitizers and other measures in promoting personal hygiene, should be respected.

“We should support the government effort spiritually by dedicating ourselves more in the worship of almighty Allah in this trying period.

“My brothers and sisters in Islam, the health challenges about the coronavirus is no longer news. The devastating effect of this sickness is being felt all over the world. China, American, Italy and other parts of Europe have been affected by this evil virus. Africa is not left out and Nigeria, our dear country is not left out among countries of the world, where coronavirus has affected people. The number of affected persons is increasing on a daily basis.

“It is in light of this that I join the various arms of government, organizations, and well meaning individuals on calls for all citizens in the state and all Muslims in particular to adhere strictly to the stay at home directive by the government”.

He prayed the almighty Allah to continue to guide and protect Nigerians and indeed the entire human race from the ravaging coronavirus.
