BENIN CITY-The Commissioner of Police redeployed to Edo State recently, has assumed duty in the state.

He is CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, posted from Osun State Police Command.

The COMPOL was received by DC(D) Usman Yusuf accompanied by some senior officers at the police command headquarters in Benin City about 4:51pm, June 2, 2020.

He was led to the CP’s office soon after inspecting the sentry to welcome him to the command.

CP Johnson Kokumo succeeded CP Lawan Jimeta Tanko who will now proceed to assume duty in Bauchi State.

During a brief handover ceremony, the outgoing CP Lawan Jimeta welcomed CP Kokumo to Edo command which he said was not new to him.

“The command is not new to you.

“The officers in the command are dedicated and they have helped me a lot.

“My short period here has been excited and beautiful”. CP Lawan stated.

The new police chief in Edo however promised to address the press another day.

It will be recalled that CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo had between October 23, 2017 and January 2, 2019 served as Commissioner of Police in Edo State.

He left Edo Command after being sent on a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), in Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.

Thereafter, he held other strategic positions in the force including that of CP, Osun State.
