BENIN CITY- The newly appointed Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Efe Stewart, has sued for the support of Journalists in Edo towards propagating the developmental strides of Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration in the state.

Commissioner Efe who was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the state governor on Communication strategy, Pastor Crusoe Osagie, made the call during a courtesy visit to the leadership and members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council l at the council’s Secretariat in Benin City on Monday.

He commended the resilient stand of Journalists in the state towards upholding the tenet of objective, fair cum accurate reportage while carrying out their watch dog role of the society.

Hon. Efe stressed on the need for all and sundry in the state to support the productive and people-oriented administration of Godwin Obaseki by voting massively for the Peoles Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the forthcoming September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State, assuring that a second term tenure for Obaseki would be win-win situation for the people.

The Commissioner who was given standing ovation over his grassroots appeal and dexterity, promised to bridge the whatever gap that exist between the state government and the people, just as he advised newsmen to always verify their information before going to press especially as he opined that the opposition parties are hell-bent on smearing the good image of governor Obaseki.

Speaking also, Pastor Crusoe Osagie, while commending Journalists for their contributions towards moving the state forward developmentally, said Obaseki mean well for the people.

He promised to always keep his doors open for Journalists who may want to verify information gotten during their line of duties in order to give the public accurate report.

Responding, the Chairman of the Edo State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade (Sir.) Roland Osakue, thanked the commissioner for the visit, assuring that the union would continue to support the developmental strides of the current government in the state.

He described the appointment of Hon. Efe Stewart as well deserving, noting that the coming of Efe as commissioner would no doubt open positive chapter in the relationship between that exist between the press and government.
