LAGOS – The deployment of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal, to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FCIID Annex, Lagos, may have changed the face of the Command following the arrest of the suspected drugs traffickers who excreted substances suspected to be cocaine.

The suspects were initially arrested as armed robbers but they later confessed that they were drug traffickers.

In the course of their arrest, they started excreting drugs they had already swallowed to travel abroad before they were arrested at Alakija area of Lagos.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, FCIID, Imohimi Edgal and confirmed that the suspects were in Police custody undergoing interrogation.

Acting on a tip-off that a gang of viscous robbers were planning a robbery operation, operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FCID Annex Lagos, on 1st September, 2020, at about 9:10hrs, at Alakija area of Lagos State, arrested one Obum Eze ’m’, 31 years of age from Achi village, Oji River in Enugu State, Ikechukwu Onoduagu ’m’ 34 years of age, from Wuver Street Cassa Morocco, Peter Ejimofor Onyeka ’m’, 35 years of age, from No. 14, Ozumazu, Nsukka, Enugu State and John Madu ’m’, 39 years of age from Nnato town, Umunochi LGA of Abia State.

While the suspects were being profiled, having denied being armed bandits/syndicate, they confessed to being illegal drugs traffickers, summoned from various locations by some unknown persons to Lagos State, where they were made to swallow various quantities of wrapped substances, suspected to be cocaine.

After few hours of interrogation, they started excreting the swallowed substances and had so far excreted a total number of 124 wraps and still counting.

The suspects and exhibits had been handed over to NDLEA for further necessary action.

However, Police sources said that the suspects will be charged to Court after the conclusion of the investigations.
