IGBANKE- Edo State Commissioner for Education, Barr Jimoh Ejegbai has commended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints for renovating the Physics laboratory building of Igbanke Grammar School in Edo State.

The Commissioner who made the commendation during the commissioning of the renovated Physics laboratory building and erection of seven classrooms storey building of the Igbanke Grammar School in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State said that is what is needed from our churches.

“The cardinal principle of evangelizing which is by carrying the gospel to all nooks and corners cannot be complete without the practical work and because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints has come to Igbanke today, we are sure it would be very easy if the church come here for a crusade, the entire population of Igbanke will follow the church and that is what we expect from our churches” he noted.

The Commissioner for Education who was accompanied to the ceremony by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon Emmanuel Agbale also commended the Alumni of the school for drawing the attention of the Church and the Federal Ministry of Works to the problem of the school which has led to the commissioning of the newly constructed seven class room block and renovated physics laboratory.

The Chairman of Igbanke Development Union, Engr. Usiagwu Arthur Osaretin and the Board of Trustee Chairman, Mr Jacob Erabor thanked the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints for what they are doing all over the country with Igbanke now having its fair share.

The Area Welfare Specialist of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mahmud Labinjo who was represented by Chidi Ibeakuzie, Welfare and Self Reliance Services manager, Enugu said the church would continue to partner with the Federal Ministry of Works and the Alumni of the school to ensure that the school regains its lost glory.

“We want to encourage and imbibe the study of science subjects in the youths with the renovation of the Physics Laboratory in the school. The church is concerned about impacting the lives of the people by meeting their basic needs” he noted.

Earlier, in their joint opening remarks, the principal, senior school, Igbanke Grammar School, Mr. R Imonite and Principal Junior School Mrs. R. Uwabor disclosed that the school which was established in 1968 had witnessed a lot of infrastructural decay due to neglect by past governments but thanks to God for the timely intervention by the school’s Alumni Development Association.

“Words will not be enough for us to applaud the unrelenting giant stride made by the Alumni towards the renovation of the dilapidated and decayed infrastructures of the school to restore its lost glory. Before the renovation there was not a single classroom suitable for learning,” they noted.

The ceremony was graced by traditional rulers , old students of the school representatives of the Federal Ministry of Warks and Housing, and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints including Pastor Vincent Chuka Igbinedion who is an old student of the school.
