ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed his special assistant on social media, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, as a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This was made known in a letter addressed to the Senate on Tuesday and read by President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan.

Onochie who is known for her face offs with Nigerians on social media, is perceived to be a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the president, this is in Pursuant to paragraph 14 of part 1f of the first schedule of the 1999 constitution.
The letter did not however state if they were Federal commissioners or not.
