BENIN-CITY – The Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Owan East and Owan West Local Government Areas of Edo State and Co-Chairmen of Etsako West, Etsako East, Etsako Central and Akoko_Edo Local Government Areas respectively have dissociated themselves from a press statement and the content there-in credited to the Chairman of the party in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area (LGA), Mr Kayode Ogunibi allegedly claiming to be speaking for all the six local government area Chairmen in Edo North Senatorial district.

According to a communique, the Chairmen and Co-Chairmen said they were not consulted, neither were they invited to any consultative meeting to brainstorm on the subject matter of “Edo North Elders Council.”

The communique dated February 5, 2021 was signed by Chief Leslie Ebosojie PDP Owan East LGA Chairman; Mr. Aigbogun Oko David, PDP Chairman, Owan West LGA; Hajia Rabiat Ezolomeh, Co-Chairperson PDP, Etsako West LGA; Sunday Adogah, Co-Chairman, PDP, Etsako East LGA; Hon Zekeri Ozizi Co-Chairman, PDP, Etsako Central LGA and Pharm. Ashofo Henry, Akoko-Edo LGA.

It noted that for the avoidance of doubt, PDP LGA executive in both Owan East and Owan West and Co-Chairmen from Akoko-Edo, Etsako East, Central and West are working closely together with and in support of the unified leadership of the party in the six LGA of Edo North Senatorial district

“We are all fully resolved and in support of the implementation of the imminent e.registration of both old and new PDP members.

” That the two LGA Chairmen of Owan East and Owan West and Co-Chairmen from Akoko-Edo, Etsako East, Central, West are fully resolved and committed to the equitable harmonisation of the party structure and Executive across the six LGA of Edo North in furtherance of our quest for peace and harmony between the state party leadership and Executive.

“We the PDP Chairmen of Owan West, Owan West LGA, Chief Leslie Ebosojie and Mr. Aigbogun Oko David and our Co-Chairmen from Akoko-Edo, Etsako West, East, Central and Co-Chairmen from Akoko-Edo are not averse to the recent inauguration of Edo North Elders Council which has been in existence since 1999 and had existed as a tradition and or convention in PDP.

“Finally, we accordingly sue for peace in polity of Edo North by inviting our colleagues PDP LGA Chairmen in Other LGA of Edo North to a conciliatory meeting to resolve any difference arising from the recent inauguration of Edo North Elders Council,” the communique added.
