BENIN CITY – The Edo State Health Insurance Commission has completed the enrolment of vulnerable persons across seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) into the Equity Plan of the state’s Health Insurance Scheme.
The Director General of the Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr Rock Amegor, disclosed this during a sensitization of stakeholders on Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) at Ugbekun Primary Healthcare Centre in Ikpoba-Okha LGA.
Amegor noted that regular engagements with coordinators and officers in charge of primary health care facilities (IOC) are important for the success of the programme.
He said that “enrollment into BHCPF has been ongoing. We have done enrollment for seven local government areas already, with 1,412 vulnerable persons registered in Ikpoba-Okha.”
The Manager of Planning and Research Department, Dr. Seremi Ibadin, reiterated that the BHCPF is meant to provide quality healthcare for vulnerable persons in the state.
She added that capitation will be made available for primary healthcare facilities to provide quality healthcare to vulnerable persons and other Edo residents.
Ibadin urged officers in charge of primary health care facilities to use the capitation judiciously in delivering quality health services to the people.
She added that the Equity Health Plan makes provision for vulnerable persons in the state to access free and quality healthcare services, noting that “the Equity Plan requires that beneficiaries will not pay for medical bills when treated, as far as they are registered under this plan.”
