BENIN CITY – A middle aged mother of four, Dorathy Umukoro Obedeti has petitioned the Edo State Police Command alleging persistent threat to her life by one Modukpe Abiodu.
In the petition, a copy of which was given to newsmen, the petitioner said that Modukpe Abiodu had earlier threatened her in 2017.
She said then, she had reported to the Police, but Modukpe Abiodu made good her threat on the 18th February 2021 when when she and her cohorts violently attacked her.
She said the attack saw Modukpe Abiodu and her cohorts raining blows on her while two of her children living with her were away, on a visit to their sibling at Partharcourt, Rivers State.
She also said the attack took place at her No. 2 Okusogie St, Off St Saviour Road, Benin City residence.
On what could have motivated the threats and attack, which almost cost ker life, the petitioner alleged that Modukpe Abiodu is accusing her of hiding the whereabouts of her first daughter, Blessing Obedeti, who lives France, Europe.
She said that in 2016 her daughter Blessing Obedeti met Modukpe Abiodu who promised to take her to Europe for purpose of giving her employment when she got there.
“Modukpe Abiodu actually took my daughter to France in 2016 but instead of a job, she lured my daughter into prostitution. But my daughter could not adapt to the situation she was subjected to, so she absconded. That is how Modukpe has been harassing, intimidating and threatening my life since 2017.
“She even said she will kill me and my children if I don’t tell my daughter Blessing to come back and pay her the ridiculous sum of 30,000 Euros which she claims was the amount she spent on my daughter.
The petitioner said, “I am crying out loud as I no longer feel safe because knowing the kind of woman Modukpe Abiodu is, she has connections, she can do and undo, she will get her people to do anything”.
