BENIN CITY – A Migrant as Messenger (MaM) volunteer, and returned migrant, Mr Bright Allahassan Egeana has said that freedom is the most expensive asset for foreigners in Libya .

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Nigerian OBSERVER in Benin City on the occasion of the 2021 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Ikponmwosa said that this made him to opt for return to Nigeria.

He said he took the decision after a year and seven months there, despite the quality of life he was enjoying there.

According to him, “I decided to return because there was no bank in Libya and they will not allow us go with money; I was leaving well.

“Life there is full of danger; you may be comfortable there, but no freedom to visit your friends.

“I’m happy returning to Nigeria because I have learnt several lessons; Libya is not better than Nigeria; if you work hard here, you will achieve your dream.”

Another MaM volunteer, Mr. Rex Ikponmwosa said that “There are local opportunities in Nigeria. If I was well informed, I would not have engaged in irregular migration.”

He said that he gained a lot of experience that would influence his approach to life.
