UBIAJA – The family of Late Mr. Bernard Aririkho, the slain Vigilante Member, who was killed by suspected Fulani Herdsmen in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State has received cash grant of N500,000 from the local government.
Late Aririkho, 48, was killed during an encounter with Fulani Herders, along Okhuesan-Emu Road, Esan South East Local Government Area, August 31, 2021, leaving behind a wife and 10 children, among them twin babies.
The Acting Chairman of Esan South East Local Government, Dr. Gregory Elimihele, while presenting the cash grant of N500,000 to the widow of the deceased, Doris Aririkho, said the grant was to assist the bereaved Wife and the children to be able to carry on with life.
Dr. Elimihele said the grant was to alleviate the pains of the bereaved family, and to ensure the bereaved family members did not suffer.
The Acting Chairman, who is the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in Esan South East, also added that the gesture of the council was to encourage other members of Vigilante Group that their services were appreciated.
He advised the family to utilize the money wisely, by investing it into profit yielding business, noting that the council was prepared to guide them in that regard.
The bereaved wife Doris Aririkho, appreciated the authorities of the Esan South East Local Government Council for the grant, promising to utilize it wisely.
The former head of the Vigilante Group, Mr. Stephen Arudamen who was the coordinator as at the time of the incident, expressed gratitude to the acting chairman for the assistance to the bereaved family.
He said the gesture would go a long way to spur members of Vigilante Group to be more committed, knowing that their family members would not be abandoned in the event of death.
