OKHUAIE – As the dry season approaches, commuters and motorists plying the ever busy Benin-Asaba express way have called on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to take advantage of the weather to fix failed portions on the road.

The motorists who lamented they spend time to go through the failed portions maintained that the areas has become death traps, even as they visit mechanic workshop to fix their vehicles after using the road.

According to them, the reoccurring situation demands FERMA to have standby men and equipment to always monitor and patch potholes along the route.

“The problem starts small, but they would not pay attention to fix it until everybody starts to suffer when it finally turns to a big problem.

“We need them (FERMA) to be focus; and always do the needful on our roads. We can not keep complaining every time before they know they will act. How long?”, A motorist heading to Edo from Anambra State lamented

The Nigerian OBSERVER had reported in August of palliative work by FERMA in some of the failed portions, but our correspondent who visited the area on Monday observed that the hitherto repaired spots have returned back to their bad state.

Along the road by Christ Chosen Church of God headquarters, Ikhuenirho by the bypass, at Abudu before the bridge, Okhuaie bridge and some other spots it was observed requires the agency’s attention.

However, an official in the agency who spoke with our correspondent off record explained that FERMA is waiting for the dry season to effect repairs on the aforementioned areas.
