BENIN CITY – Edo State Government has called for the support of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in driving the administration’s agenda of Making Edo Great Again popularly known as MEGA.

The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Andrew Emwanta made this appeal on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki during a courtesy call by a team of NTA staff led by the Zonal Director, NTA, Benin Network Centre, Mrs. Pauline Igbanor last weekend in Benin City.

While making his welcome address, the Commissioner reinstated the commitment of Edo government under Mr. Obaseki to economic revolution and institutional reforms of Edo state which are driven by the MEGA agenda. He appealed to NTA to key into the vision by informing and sensitizing the people about the programmes of Edo government.

According to him, “the ministry of information and orientation has a mandate of creating awareness and orientation on important societal issues. Our hardworking and visionary Governor has made this work easy for us through his laudable program of MEGA which you all can see is turning the fortune of our dear state in all areas”.

Hon. Emwanta commended NTA Benin Network for it’s programmes, “as an award winning station in the past, NTA Benin Network has done very well in the area of regular information dissemination about the activities and programmes of not just the federal government but state and local government as well”.

Earlier, the zonal director of NTA Benin Network Centre, Mrs. Pauline Igbanor congratulated Hon. Emwanta on his appointment as Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, which she said signals a new turn and direction.

Speaking further, Mrs. Igbanor explained that the reason for the courtesy call was to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between NTA Benin Network Centre and the ministry of communication and orientation which she described as the ‘parent ministry’.

“NTA’s primary responsibility is to produce programmes that promote peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria and to disseminate information about the activities and programmes of government to the people and we are ever open to work with Edo government in this direction” Mrs. Igbanor remarked.

Also present at the occasion was the permanent secretary, Ministry of Communication and Orientation, Mr. Joses Sede, the General Manager, Bendel Newspapers Company Limited (BNCL) publishers of the Nigeran Observer titles Barr. Solomon Imohiensen and other staff members of the Edo Ministry of Communication and Orientation.
