BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government, on Monday, announced plans and programme of activities for the fifth edition of the Alaghodaro Investment Summit, held annually to mark the anniversary of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration.

Addressing journalists at the media launch of the Alaghodaro Summit 2021, Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., said this year’s event will feature the economic summit, commissioning of select projects, a golf tournament, praise night and other exciting programmes lined up to ensure a stimulating outing.

He said some projects to be commissioned as part of activities for the Alaghodaro Summit 2021include the John Odigie-Oyegun Training Centre, New High Court Building, Creative Hub, amongst others.

Ogie noted that the fifth edition of the summit, with the theme, “Edo of Our Dreams: Building a Sustainable Future,” will be held from Friday, November 12 to 14, 2021, at different venues across Benin City, the Edo State capital.

He explained that the annual summit, which is organized by the Edo State Government in collaboration with private sector partners, is aimed at showcasing investment opportunities and engendering economic prosperity in the state.

According to him, “the Alaghodaro celebration this year is unique because it coincides with 30 years of the creation of our dear state. As we mark this five years anniversary, we need to take a reflective look at the 30 years of our continued existence, take stock of our successes and failings and join hands to collectively lead the charge of the next generation.

“The summit, among many other things, is going to be a celebration of the vision and sacrifice of our founding fathers and all those who have held the forte and contributed to the development of our dear state.

“The 2021 summit is aimed at consolidating on years of building a vibrant private-sector-led economy, which has benefited from wide-ranging government reforms and programmes informed by insights, learnings and intelligence, garnered from this sustained and evolving exchange with the private sector.”

Ogie continued: “This year’s event will feature the economic summit, commissioning of select projects, a golf tournament, praise night and other exciting programmes lined up to ensure a stimulating outing.
