BENIN CITY – The Centre for Edo Delta Development Initiative (CEDDI) has bestowed an award of honor on the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki in recognition of his humanitarian activities in the state.

The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Andrew Emwanta received the award on behalf of the Governor at CEDDI’s 6th graduation, 7th matriculation ceremony and 10th anniversary which held in Benin City.

While reacting to the award, the Commissioner commended the founder of CEDDI, Chief Sam Igbe, the Iyase (prime minister) of Benin Kingdom for what he described as “beautiful and laudable initiative that’s given young people platform to realise their potentials”.

Hon. Emwanta reinstated the commitment of the Obaseki’s administration to youth empowerment which he said was the reason the Governor has partnered with CEDDI.

“This award is in recognition of what the People’s Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is doing and is because he believes in initiatives like this that he’s supported the activities of CEDDI. This centre encourages hardwork and industry for our youths and this is exactly what the Obaseki’s administration is committed to.

The Commissioner however urged the youths to desist from illegal means of acquiring wealth and take advantage of the opportunities CEDDI and Edo government have created to achieve their true potentials and add value to society.

Earlier, the founder of CEDDI, Chief Sam Igbe, the Iyase of Benin appreciated the Governor for supporting and partnering with centre.

Chief Igbe also said he was impressed by the progress old trainees of the centre have made when he paid some of them surprise visits in their various workshops. He urged the graduands to keep the flag flying by putting to good use all they have learnt during the course of training like others before them.
