A Benin- based businessman, Mr Osamuyi Aghedo has reportedly escaped death after unidentified gunmen invaded his home in the Ugbor area of Benin City on the night of June 25,2022.

The assassination attempt on Mr Aghedo last weekend was said to be the second in recent days , after his car was directly short at on the Benin – Lagos road a fortnight ago.

“The attack on the Benin – Lagos road was initially thought to be the handwork of herdsmen. But with the invasion of his home, it became clear that there is a planned attampt to eliminate him”, a family source said.

One of his close associates who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, said the embattled businessman was having issues with one of his clients who placed an order for the purchase of two exotic cars running into millions of naira.

He said however that another dealer whom Mr Osamuyi transferred the money to, did not only fail to deliver the cars but rather he resorted to blackmail and intimidation. He said the man claimed that Osamuyi owed him some money in the past which he could not substantiate with any documentation.

He further said that the man was arrested by the police but he secured bail and immediately disappeared from his known address. He said Mr Osamuyi has been receiving threats from unknown persons since then.

He said Mr Osamuyi was standing between the Egyptians and the deep Re d Sea as the owner of the money was making ferocious demand for the refund of the money which he could not afford for now.

“We believe that either of the two parties want to eliminate Mr Osamuyi. The attacks on his life has to do with his business”, our source said
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with Mr Osamuyi Aghedo proved abortive as he was said to be in hiding.

However, it was gathered that the police are investigating the matter
